General  Information
We welcome your ideas for stitching your quilt: design, stitching, echo quilting, stippling, meandering, free motion quilting, etc.

Our quilter uses a variety of quilting techniques and make every quilt as individual as the piecing and fabrics used.  Quilter's Choice is a popular selection of our repeat customers.

Select desired stitching design(s) and provide us with any special instructions.  This could also include Quilter's choice, leaving the selection to the creativity of the machine quilter.

Instructions

Determine how large to cut backing and batting.  If quilt top is 40" x 60" you would cut your batting and backing 48"x68" (4" wider on all for sides).  The larger the quilt, the more extra width you will need.  (For king size your backing should be 8" wider on all four sides.)

Choose a type of batting or bring your own.  If you supply you own, be sure the batting is 4-8 inches longer and wider that your quilt top.

Select your backing fabric.  Prepare it for quilting by pre-washing, drying, ironing and stitching pieces together if necessary.  Baking must be at least 4-8 inches longer and wider than your quilt top (on all four sides).  Please do not pin layers together.

Your backing fabric needs to be square.  After determining appropriate size and cutting, fold backing in half lengthwise, then in half width wise.  Using your quilting rulers, trip as necessary to make backing square.

If you want, select threat type and color for both the top and the bobbin (backing side).  Choose cotton, variegated, Jean stitch, etc.  Or you may have the quilter choose your thread.  We no longer use nylon monofilament.

In you want us to apply the binding to the edges of your quilt, please provide the fabric (uncut).  We will prepare the binding and stitch it to the quilt.  We can also turn the binding and complete the hand stitching if you desire.

Payment and Shipping

When your quilt is received at BJ's Quilt Basket, the approximate cost will be calculated.  At that time a labor deposit of 50% will be required (cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard).  The balance due, including costs of batting and threads, is required when the quilting is completed and the quilt is picked up.  Remaining thread on spools will be considered your property.

If you live out of the Bend area and prefer to ship your quilt to use for quilting, we will be happy to return it to you by mail or UPS.  Shipping and insurance charges will be added to your quilting order form and must be guaranteed by a Visa or MasterCard account.
